  • Orange - 900 staff in county Durham and 100 in Solihull lost their jobs with work outsourced to India.

Household appliances

  • Dyson - closed their Wiltshire factory with the loss of 590 jobs. Production taken to Malaysia.

Hornby trains - closed their factory taking work to China. Unfortunately I can't find how many staff lost their jobs. Please email me if you know. Thanks

Banking/Insurance

  • HSBC - they've taken thousands of English call centre jobs to Asia. No lack of effort on the workers' part, their minimum wage is just too expensive!
  • Lloyds TSB - 968 call centre staff in Newcastle redundant - work transferred to India.
  • Norwich Union - 450 Office jobs to India.
  • Barclaycard - Closed their Manchester call centre, taking work to India.

  • Easyjet moved their call centre to Germany/Poland with the loss of 140 English jobs.

Food & Drink

  • Birds Eye Walls - made over 1000 people in Grimsby and Hull redundant, taking work to Germany.
  • Terry's chocolate orange - 350 factory staff on the scrapheap with work taken to Europe.
  • Smarties - part of the despicable Nestle group, production of smarties was shifted to Germany with the great city of York losing 880 jobs.
  • HP- Moved production to Holland leaving 125 Birmingham staff out of work.
  • Cadbury's - putting 700 English workers on the scrapheap with work going to Poland.
